What is this Fall stuff

Its been a while since I've been on here, but thanks to the blogs of my sisters and the Hensons I have regained my interest in posting something, and hopefully it will be something worth reading. A lot has changed in the past few months, I took USMLE step 1, and completed 3 months worth of Surgery as a 3rd year. Neither of them was easy, nor particularly enjoyable.
I won't bore you with my specific likes and dislikes of Surgery now, but I will say that I'm not really considering it anymore. I am now on Family Med, which has a good schedule and I really enjoy working with the docs in College Station, but it is a little boring.
I picked up Donald Miller's new book, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years. Once again I can't put a book he has written down. He really has some interesting thoughts on God and on life. I'd like to think it would be fun to be a writer and to write about your life and your thoughts on God, but I think that requires actually having some interesting thoughts that someone might want to read. I've only read a few chapters so far and of course this book is just as good as the others, but from all the reviews I've read its supposed to be even better. The way he writes makes you feel like there is so much more to this life than getting a job that pays well, buying a house in suburbia and having 2.5 kids and a dog. He doesn't buy into the life of accumulating things to make yourself happy. I want to be like him in that way, to enjoy the beauty of this world and see my life as a story that God is telling and living through me and that its not really about me.
One part of the book I particularly enjoy is about the death of his uncle. "My Uncle told a good story with his life, but I think there was such a sadness at his funeral because his story wasn't finished. if you aren't telling a good story nobody thinks you died too soon: they just think you died, but my uncle died too soon."
